Whitewater Kayaking & Rafting In Canada

There are several times during the year when you can take a kayak to Canada and enjoy your first white-water kayaking experience. If you’re new to kayaking, it’s best to consider a canoe or rafting on a river. The rapids in Canada are the most difficult and roughest when the waters are at their freshest. In the winter, the rivers are usually at their most pristine.

Spring

The best time for white-water rafting in Canada is during the spring. The waters are usually at their greatest, and white-water flows quite easy. This is also the best time for fly fishing. Many rivers and creeks have very large holes that are good for fly fishing. If you’re unfamiliar with fly fishing in Canada, it is similar to fly fishing in the United States, except it involves the use of small, light fishing gear and is done on calm open water. You’ll be much better off taking an introductory trip to this country before jumping into the sport.

Summer

June through November is the optimal time for canoeing and kayaking in Canada. The weather is usually dry throughout the year in this region, and the waters are noticeably clear. This is also the ideal time for fly fishing in the Canadian Arctic. You won’t find many other places where you can get the full experience of fly fishing.

The best time for white-water kayaking in Canada is June through August. When it is June, there is a lot of low pressure in the area and it can be very challenging to navigate the rapids – strong rafting paddle control is needed. During this time, the weather is warm, and you have more control over your river and can move faster and deeper.

When it is May, the water is usually very clear and the waters are warmer than they are during the winter. You also don’t have any weather issues with debris on the water. You can move a lot faster through the rapids and you won’t have to worry about getting stuck.

Fall

The weather is usually dry during the fall and the rivers are normally quite deep and are not as clear as the rivers during the spring. In October, many rivers and creeks in Canada have a lot of debris on them that makes it harder to navigate. If this is the case, it is a good idea to take an introductory trip to Canada. If you don’t want to get in a lot of trouble and you may want to wait until late September to take a trip.

During the winter months of October and November, it is generally not recommended to take any type of water recreation. The water is very shallow, and your equipment can be easily damaged by strong currents. It is also possible for snow to fall from the skies. It is also difficult for a kayak to get out to the rivers and to be able to navigate the rapids.

Winter

The best time for winter white-water rafting in Canada is from December through February. The waters are relatively clear and there is not much debris floating around in the water. This is also a good time for fly fishing. Most Canadian rivers and streams have a lot of holes that are great for large fish. The weather is very cold during this time and you will get a feel for how the river runs. Many rivers in Canada close down for part of the year and you won’t have to worry about any debris blocking the rapids.
