FREE Tahiti Online Cooking Class - 2/20 @ Your Computer!
We will be making Poisson Cru (Lime-Coconut Marinated Fish)!

We will be having a virtual gathering over ZOOM where we can talk about Tahiti (French Polynesia) while we prepare a fun and simple dish together. We have a chef from Tahiti to walk us through the steps and at the end of the presentation you can enjoy a nice meal. This is a free presentation but you will need to pick up a few ingredients if you want to cook along with us. It is not required but it makes it more fun if you cook along with us! This dish will serve about 4-6 people depending on if you use it as a side dish or a main one.

Ingredients:

  • 1 -2 lbs fresh fish (tuna is recommended but you can also try halibut, salmon, snapper or any fresh fish you can find suitable for raw consumption)
  • 1 cup coconut milk (fresh is preferred)
  • 1 onion (we like red for the color)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 cucumber (we prefer English because they have less seeds)
  • 2 limes (or lemons if you cannot find limes)
  • 2 tomatoes
  • Grated ginger
  • Salt

Tools Needed:

  • Cutting board
  • Mixing bowl
  • Sharp chef’s knife
  • Large spoon for mixing
  • NO OVEN OR STOVE TOP NEEDED!

Recipe Notes:

  • Of course, this dish is best served with the freshest ingredients you can find but we understand that not everyone can grab a coconut from a tree and make this dish. The most common fish used is tuna (sushi-grade is best) but you can use other kinds of fish as well. Just select the freshest kind possible and ask your fish monger at your local market what they might suggest. Our recommendation is to find organic options whenever possible as this dish will only be cooked using the lime juice.
